NOTES
We asked songwriter/singer/producer Steve Sullivan to tell us the story behind the making of this record. Here is what he had to say... "The album (love is a hit parade) took over a year to finish. Initially we were going to make a quick second album to follow "Last Night" and tracked 12 songs in the studio with star engineer Chopper Black (Paula Abdul, Husker Du) and so we had all these great sounding raw tracks, and I started mixing and while I was mixing I was going to school and was constantly learning new things to try and do to the audio. Eventually Jessica our trumpet player wanted to redo all her parts so we did that, and then I decided to redo a lot of the guitars, and then our bass player Mike Brown left the band, so I originally redid all the bass parts myself. After Matt Blake joined the band on upright bass and we'd reworked the songs live we decided to have Matt do the basslines on upright. Jessica kept getting better and better on the trumpet at a ridiculously rapid pace, so we redid some horns again and then I took just forever to do all my vocals. In the end we released it simultaneously with our 3rd record, "I Did A Bad Thing" and if it wasn't for that third album needing to be released I might never have finished Love Is A Hit Parade.
